Fundsupermart Update: FSMOne

When I logged in to Fundsupermart (FSM) recently, I noticed that the platform has undergone a transformation. It is now known as FSMOne. As confirmed with the FSMOne team, the platform is upgraded on 21 December 2018.

So, what are the changes? In this update, I will just write about the Funds segment of the platform as this is the only function that I am using.

FSMOne

When we go to FSMOne homepage (Link), the default page is “NEW TO FSMONE”. On this page, there are some information regarding FSM activities and latest news. What I normally do is go straight to the log in page by clicking the Login button on the top right corner.

But before we explore the new interface after logging in, let’s see what are in the “FUNDS” page.

Funds

To access the funds page, just click on the “FUNDS” in the top menu (Link). Under the top menu, there will be a secondary menu with the following options: “GETTING STARTED”, “TRANSACTIONS”, “FUND INFO”, “TOOLS AND CALCULATORS”, “FUND RESEARCH” and “HELP & SERVICES”.

When we hover over these options, there will be a list under each heading.

There is also a news bar directly under the top menu, showing major information or advertisement.

Below the news bar, there are a few other sections. There is a function to look for funds using Fund Ranking or Fund Finder. The other sections are The Latest, Total Funds Counter, Star Rating, Income Distribution Notice and Recommended Funds.

User interface

After logging in, we will be directed to the homepage again.  But our name and account number will appear on the top right corner. Click the down arrow on the right of account number will bring up a menu. The options are Holdings, Fund Watchlist, My RSP, Statement Password, My Statement, Account Update, Open Additional Account and Logout.

When we click Holdings, we are directed to the Account Holdings page. On the page, we can see Cash Account Summary, Your Investment Summary, Overview of our holdings and Investment Holdings Allocation.

There are a few buttons in the Action column of the Overview table. The green cart button represents buy, red cart button means sell, the orange refresh button is switch and the star button means add to watchlist.

Although the interface is different now, the transaction process is still almost the same. We just need to follow the steps.

Major differences that I noticed

Previously, we do not need One-Time Password (OTP) for transaction. But FSMOne implements this new feature. Thus, we will need to update our mobile number in order to register for this service and verify email address before we are able to complete the registration. Overall, the process is fairly simple and can be completed within five minutes.

I noticed that we are unable to buy private retirement scheme and the conventional mutual funds in one transaction. I do not know why but I could only proceed with the checkout process once I separate them into different transactions.

Another change that I discovered is that the information about the 1-year, 3-year and all-time highest and lowest prices are not available on the fund page anymore. These prices are important for me to decide my buying and selling prices.

Conclusion

I think the transformation of the platform makes it visually more appealing. With the addition of the OTP, it adds a layer of security to the transaction compared to last time. Overall, I find the new look to be better than the previous version, albeit with a few missing features.

I discovered that different devices and browsers may render the website differently. Nonetheless, the basic layout is still almost the same.
