My Investment Podcasts Playlist

There are a host of investment podcasts out there. However, I do not have the patience to listen for more than 45 minutes. Thus, I only listen to podcasts with episodes that are generally not more than 30 minutes long. Due to this constraint and my preference for Malaysian podcasts, there are only three podcasts on my playlist.

BFM :: Ringgit and Sense

This podcast is produced by BFM 89.9, the Business Station. New episode is uploaded every Thursday. Each episode has one or more subject matter experts to have a discussion with the host. The topics discussed include personal risk profiles, realistic investment horizons, retirement planning and education loan and health insurance plan, and the explosion of myriad personal finance products.

理财怎么办 (Rough Translation: How to Manage Money)

This podcast is produced by CITYPlus FM, the first Chinese business radio station in Malaysia. The conversation is in Mandarin. Thus, if you do not understand Mandarin, you may skip this podcast.

Its format is almost the same as BFM :: Ringgit and Sense. The host invites one or two guests to discuss issues related to personal finance in each episode.

Income Investing With Alexis Assadi

This podcast is hosted by Alexis Assad, a Canadian businessman. Its last episode was on 28 November 2018. Income Investing focuses on income-generating investments, including dividend stocks, income funds, royalty trusts, real estate, real estate investment trusts (REITs), property crowdfunding, mortgage lending, mortgage funds and peer-to-peer loans. However, I think the host did not cover everything listed. The topics discussed are grouped into three segments: REITs, direct mortgage lending and investment funds.

The main audience of this podcast is North Americans, specifically Americans and Canadians. Thus, some lessons may not be applicable in Malaysia. In every episode, the host gives a recap of the previous episode and also answers questions from listener before beginning the current content.

This podcast is very informative as the host really delves into the topics. However, the only drawback is that almost every episode starts with a quite long introduction to this podcast.

Conclusion

So, this is my investment podcasts playlist. Actually, I would like to find more Malaysian investment podcasts but they are very limited. Even the two podcasts that are hosted by Malaysians are not primarily investment oriented. Nonetheless, their contents are relatable to Malaysians and investment is a subset of personal finance. I did learn a lot from these two podcasts.

I will update the playlist if I find other respectable podcasts. In the meantime, I am going to wait for new episodes from BFM :: Ringgit and Sense, and 理财怎么办.
