My investments are still on the same three peer-to-peer (P2P) lending platforms: Capsphere, Fundaztic, and Funding Societies Malaysia. The results are as on 30 September 2024. In this article, I am going to follow the formulae of the previous year which you can see down here.
Total return = Total received profit ÷ Total capital employed
Annualised return = (1 + total return)(1/N) – 1
where N is the years of investment
Default rate = Total default remaining principal ÷ Total invested amount
Capsphere
My investment started in September 2020. My total return from this platform is 41.45% (2023: 29.17%) and my annualised return is 9.06% (2023: 8.91%). There is an addition of defaulted note from 3 to 4 and my current default rate is 1.90% (2023: 0.83%).
Fundaztic
This is the seventh year since I started my investment on this platform.
My total return on Fundaztic equals to 154.33% (2023: 136.11%). This translates to an annualised return of 14.27% (2023: 15.39%). My default rate is 14.69% (2023: 14.80%), including write-off.
Funding Societies Malaysia
This is my first P2P lending platform. I started investing here since June 2017.
My total return on this platform is 61.07% (2023: 51.18%). It is equal to an annualised return of 7.05% (2023: 7.13%). The annualised return has dropped again compared to last year. My default rate on Funding Societies Malaysia has decreased to 2.14% (2023: 2.47%).
Conclusion
To simplify the comparison, I am going to put the returns and default rates in the table below.
Platform | Total Return | Annualised Return | Default Rate |
---|---|---|---|
Capsphere | 41.45% ↑ | 9.06% ↑ | 1.90% ↑ |
Fundaztic | 154.33% ↑ | 14.27% ↓ | 14.69% ↓ |
Funding Societies Malaysia | 61.07% ↑ | 7.05% ↓ | 2.14% ↓ |
Other than Capsphere, my annualised returns in the other two platforms have decreased. Nonetheless, the returns on these P2P lending platforms are still better than the ASNB fixed-price funds. My total return from P2P lending platforms is 68.51% (2023: 57.06%), roughly equals to annualised return of 7.74% (2023: 7.81%).
My auto-investment is still activated on Capsphere only. For Funding Societies, I only invest in notes with interest rate of at least 9%. Though I have wanted to start to reinvest in Fundaztic, I did not invest in much notes in the past year. Maybe that is the reason the annualised return went down.
For now, I am still going to continue my investment on these three platforms. I think I will finally start to deploy the cash in Fundaztic. Let’s see how it goes in my next review.
