My 2025 Malaysia Investment Review

2025 Malaysia Investment Review

This is my 2025 annual investment review, starting with this 2025 Malaysia investment review.

My 2025 investment holdings review covers both stock market and mutual fund. I will show the gain or loss (including dividends) for each stock and fund. In the end, I will show the total return of my holdings in Malaysia. The baseline is the price at the beginning of 2025 or at the point of purchase. I compute internal rate of return (IRR) to show my annualised return.

In this article, I am sharing the returns of my Malaysia portfolio (denominated in Malaysian Ringgit). The next article will show the returns of my foreign portfolio (denominated in US Dollar). In the third and final article, I will share the total returns of my whole portfolio (denominated in Malaysian Ringgit).

My annual return is much lower than last year. KLCI increased by 2.30% for the year, so my portfolio underperformed the benchmark. My outperformance in the past four years has ended.

My annual return in 2024 was +12.20%. My Malaysian portfolio did not do well in 2025, but it was still positive.

IRR = +7.12%

My IRR has decreased from +8.09% last year.

Conclusion

My target annual return is 7%. My portfolio failed to hit this target in 2025. 2025 did not turn out be a good year for me.

My current Malaysia portfolio consists of 73.45% (2024: 68.34%) equity and 26.55% (2024: 31.66%) mutual fund. I have sold some holdings in this year to pay for my house renovation and this might have contributed to my underperformance.

That is the end of my 2025 Malaysia investment review. The next post will focus on the return of my foreign portfolio.
