Amanah Saham Malaysia 2 Wawasan (ASM 2 Wawasan) is one of the fixed-priced funds offered by Amanah Saham Nasional Berhad (ASNB). Its latest dividend was paid on 1 September 2019. The amount is RM 0.05/unit which translates to a yield of 5%. Like ASM, the dividend of ASM 2 Wawasan also experienced a significant drop compared to last year.
Trend
The dividends of the previous four years were 6.4 cents (2015), 6.3 cents (2016), 6 cents (2017) and 6 cents (2018) respectively.
The dividend of 2019 represents the lowest amount in the history of this fund. This is also the first time that the amount drops below 6 cents. The lowest dividend recorded previously was the 6 cents in year 2017 and 2018.
Conclusion
Based on this performance, is ASM 2 Wawasan still a good investment? I will give the same answer as with ASM. I will still invest in this fund unless the dividend rate drops below the inflation rate. The inflation rate in Malaysia averages 3.53% from 1973 till 2019 (Link). So, I will start looking for alternative when the dividend rate goes below 4%.
I was unable to invest in this fund for the past few months due to insufficient available units. With this decreasing dividend, perhaps I will have a chance now if there are people who find this lower dividend rate unattractive.
