Amanah Saham Malaysia 2 – Wawasan (ASM 2 Wawasan) has just paid its latest dividend on 1 September 2022. The amount is RM 0.0375/unit, equal to a dividend yield of 3.75%. This amount is the lowest dividend in its history.
Trend
The dividends of the previous years were 6.4 cents (2015), 6.3 cents (2016), 6 cents (2017), 6 cents (2018), 5 cents (2019), 4 cents (2020) and 4 cents (2021).
This dividend is the lowest in its history. I did not expect its dividend to drop below 4 cents, but it happened.
Outlook
The benchmark of this fund is the same as ASM, the Maybank 12-Month Fixed Deposit, which currently has a return of 1.98% per annum. However, I think we should use the KLCI as the benchmark as this fund invests in the local equity market. Using the return of KLCI in 2020 (-3.67%), it performance is much better.
As this fund is now giving a return of below 4%, I am thinking of moving my money to Simpan SSPN Prime. Although its latest return is only 3%, I could utilise the tax relief to save on my income tax (tax relief extended till year 2024). I will decide on this issue before the end of this year.
